Build against older gspell
The entry support in gspell is brandnew. We can easily avoid using
it if it is not available, and still get spell-checking for all
the text views.

Make autoar dependency conditional

Fix the build with clang
It complained about a bunch of unused variables that gcc
does not notice. Get rid of all of them.
